Dave Sera, Founder and CEO

In 2018, Dave Sera joined forces with EcoGrid and created Streamline Energy Inc. with a dedicated focus on sustainability as the cornerstone of the company.

Dave’s journey began working as an industrial electrician at a diamond mine in the North West Territories. It was here where mission critical assignments working with very limited power where a routine part of everyday.

Experience with MCC’s, complex motor controls, and installing regenerative braking systems for power recovery provided the foundation for launching Streamline Electrical and has since become a leading electrical service provider serving BC’s Sunshine Coast for over 11 years now.

Streamline Electrical has designed and installed over 30 mW worth of green energy for off-grid power systems in remote locations on the islands all around the Sunshine Coast as well both the North and South gulf islands.

As an accredited sommelier with many years in the service industry prior to becoming an Electrician, Dave still uses those very refined skills to articulate fine subtleties to this day. Under his tutelage his team of technicians are held to account to pay attention to all the small details, and he is very well-liked by those who work for him as well as his clients for his down-to-earth persona.

“In a very short time, Streamline Energy has already removed 4.5 mW of peak energy off the BC Hydro grid with simple smart LED upgrades, and I am very excited to see what we can do going forward”, says Dave.

George Filtsos, Founder and CTO

In 2017, after devoting 25 years to industrial automation, lighting controls, and industrial IoT, George Filtsos’ launched a start-up company, EcoGrid Technologies. His company put their unique twist on turnkey, energy efficiency projects. The company mandated to future proof everything they do by establishing a digital ceiling in the industrial, commercial built space via their lighting with open standards IoT solutions.

In 2018, took the same mandate and George partnered with Dave Sera to co-create Streamline Energy Inc., an EcoGrid company in BC. Streamline Energy projects have already removed 4.5 mW of peak energy off the BC Hydro grid in a very short time.

As an individual, George is as down to earth as they come. He is as comfortable working with engineering specification firms as he is collaborating with electrical contractors. Having started his career as an electrician, he developed a valuable and unique hands-on perspective, as well as a stellar reputation for his technical expertise, sales acumen, and leadership abilities.

In 1993, George obtained his masters license as an electrician, which he used to generate income to finance further education. He had decided to go back to school in order to become an electrical engineer.

George worked at several prominent, multinational companies such as Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider Electric, ABB, and then served on the R&D board at Leviton. In 2015, George took a huge risk and left Canada to join a start-up company called, Daintree Networks, in Los Altos, California.

Daintree Networks provided him the opportunity to become one of the early pioneers that disrupted the lighting controls space by introducing IoT solutions. “Daintree taught me the best path for facility-wide IoT tech was via the lighting,” says George. Eventually, Daintree Networks sold to GE for $75M USD. George stayed on with GE for the transition before moving on, taking his IoT expertise as the foundation for EcoGrid and Streamline Energy Inc.

“What sets us apart in a big way is the advanced wireless controls, giving clients the best ROIs in the business.” He goes on to say, “Our competitors just don’t offer IoT solutions because of its inherent complexity; they’re just not equipped to even sell it, let alone have the specialized expertise it takes to execute.”

According to George, competitors are “racing to bottom” by cutting corners and not offering advanced wireless solutions. He sees no other alternative to using IoT technology. “It pays for itself today as an energy savings component and future proofs your investment for tomorrow. As emerging technologies come to market, you simply just hop on the facility-wide network we established through your lights.”
